A beat maker you play like a game
No account, no tutorial, no timeline full of tiny rectangles. Sixteen pads, your keyboard, and a loop that is already running - hit keys until something sounds good and it is recorded. Most people have a beat inside a minute.
The whole thing in four keys
Space starts and stops. Z is the kick, C is the snare, A is the hat. That is enough to make a beat. Enter starts recording so whatever you play goes into the loop, and if you make a mess, CLEAR throws it away - nothing is lost, because nothing was ever saved anywhere but your own browser.
Things worth trying
- Hold REPEAT and a hat pad. It rolls perfectly in time, which sounds far harder than it is.
- Press GROOVES and load a jungle or techno arrangement, then play over the top of it.
- Press MELODY with any pad selected: the grid becomes a scale and every pad is in key. There is no wrong note to hit, which makes it a better toy than an instrument for about ten minutes - and a better instrument than a toy after that.
- Record something through your microphone - your voice, a pen on a desk - and it gets chopped into sixteen playable pieces automatically.
It is a real machine underneath
The fun part is that none of this is a simplified toy version. The same page has a step sequencer, velocity per hit, swing, four pattern banks, song mode, sampling, stem separation and WAV export. You can keep playing it as a game forever, or notice one day that you have been using it as a studio.
